Despite a supreme abundance of food within the United States, where waste is at all time highs, there are still many individuals who suffer from hunger. More specifically, many families cannot nearly afford to eat high quality nutritious food.
That’s why Anthony Gucciardi, in an act meant to encourage others to ‘take action’, has launched an initiative to help feed over 525,000 people by using food that would have already ended up in the trash. The initiative, by which Anthony is donating to a group that re-distributes perfectly edible food to those in need, demonstrates how simply we can take action to help others.
“The sad reality is that grocery stores around the nation continually throw out billions of dollars worth of food on a yearly basis. Oftentimes, this food isn’t even near its expiration date, and is routinely not even past its recommended sell-by date. Numerous articles have questioned whether or not the practice should even be legal, with France taking action in declaring that grocery stores will no longer be allowed to trash edible food without paying fines,” writes Anthony Gucciardi on his official website.
