Woman Accuses DEA Agent of Smashing Her Neck with M-16 Rifle

A woman in Alpine, Texas has accused a DEA agent of smashing her neck with the butt of an M-16 rifle during a raid on her sister’s smoke shop.

KWES NewsWest 9 / Midland, Odessa, Big Spring, TX: |

Ilana Lipsen, owner of the Purple Zone, told reporters that the incident began when DEA agents confronted her sister as she attempted to open the store late last week. According to the DEA, Lipsen’s shop was targeted as part of a nationwide crackdown on “synthetic drugs.”

“She pulled up and they said, ‘Do you have the key?’ and there’s not a key for my property,” Lipsen told News West 9. “We have smart locks and they’re all on codes. She said, ‘I don’t have a key, but I have…’ and at that exact moment, one of the officers said, ‘Break it down.’ It didn’t give her a chance to say, ‘I have a code.'”

Lipsen says agents then entered her shop, disconnected her surveillance cameras and confiscated hard drives, cameras, cell phones and several firearms. Lipsen refutes claims by DEA agents that she was selling or in possession of any synthetic drugs.

“The only information that I could get was they were looking for some type of document,” Lipsen said. “I said, ‘Well, could you please tell me what kind of document that you’re looking for and I can help you?’ But they wouldn’t give me any information.”

As Lipsen’s sister watched from the sidewalk, one agent reportedly approached and demanded she leave the area, prompting her to ask, “What are you going to do, shoot me?”

“He grabbed her by the shoulders and started roughhousing her,” Lipsen said. “My sister has never been arrested, has never had any other problems and she was terrified.”

Lipsen says the situation grew worse after her sister flinched, causing the agent to become even more violent.

“At that moment, he took his foot and tripped her to get her off of her feet and have her down to the ground. One of her feet came flying up and accidentally hit him in the shin,” Lipsen said. “At that time he started saying, ‘Well now you’re assaulting a police officer.’ And he started attacking her more. He took the butt of his M-16 rifle and smashed it into her neck.”

Lipsen’s sister was then handcuffed by one agent as another reportedly grabbed her by her neck.

“She was yelling, ‘Get off of me. You’re hurting me. You’re choking me.’ He had his hand around her neck as he was holding her face into the ground of the neighbors property,” Lipsen said.

The DEA denied all allegations and claimed the blood on scene was from an agent who accidentally cut himself while breaking down the store’s door. Although the DEA did confirm the arrest and assault charge, no explanation was given over how Lipsen’s sister received the large wound on her neck.

The sisters were charged with three felonies for selling an illegal substance, charges both sisters deny.

While both parties deny the other’s claims, the issue at large continues to be the militarization of law enforcement through the failed war on drugs.

  1. so this is what hummer hussar happens, when dea sends some of its remarkably special agents to do something a little more difficult than begging for, disposing of unused prescription medicines; rifle recreations raiding a maximum threat to society smoke shop cartel.

Authority animosity accounting again, young sales taxed, income taxed unarmed women are victims of wiener wart wanton worrisome behavior. Bushido badged begging for prescription drugs boredom, bandoleer butt bashing innocence, till proven rotten revenue retinal guilty; some taxpaying citizen's, little toddler tantrum terrorized taxpaying girl.

  2. Abuse can't be tolerated.
Not now, not any more than 1776.

This was a citizen that was innocent until proven guilty, and unless she was a physical threat this officer was not acting to protect himself.

This is worse than local police abusing authority, because there is no Sheriff to vote out of office.
And yes, it's bad enough on a local scale.

  3. I don't think this was a very good story. The author could have done better. Only one salient point sticks out: "…….. the issue at large continues to be the militarization of law enforcement…."

    • It's a sign of things to come. Police get military grade equipment, NDAA, FEMA Camps, the erosions of our freedoms. It's all being done by design and unless we stand up and fight we will be slaves

      • We already are slaves. That is a fact.
They just haven't shackled us yet, or sent us off to the camps.

………and why would they do that?
It makes much more sense for us all to buy into the American Dream mantra, like a bunch of Saps. We buy homes and take out a mortgage, we buy cars and take out a car loan, we buy stuff and charge it, all the while paying interest to them. Then we have to buy food from them. From mega-corps.

They have a pretty good gig going on. We are their slaves, and they do not have to feed us, or clothe us, or house us.

The Antebellum South never had a system that was this good, or worked this well.

        • Yep, luckily my home is paid for. The only loan I have is for a truck I bought last year and I will have it paid off by December of this year. Never owned a credit card either. Hard to get around the food part. You can hunt and grow your own but that only last so long and since we like variety in this country you are pretty much forced to buy it from mega-corps.

Time to go completely off grid

          • There was a religious author Ellen G White that described what she saw as the 'time of trouble'.

It was not a pleasant description.

          • You dont have to be in debt to banks to be a debt slave. Where do you think your tax dollars are going? Just because your house is paid off doesnt mean you own it either, Id like to see you miss your property taxes for a little while.

  4. The DEA is great at assaulting and killing people:

    • Then we need to restore our freedoms, now more than ever.

We are innocent until proven guilty.
Those that kill innocent people need to stand trial for murder, and those that trained them are accessories to that murder.

      • Why are you derailing my comments? Before you can say the trainers are accessories to murder you better have your facts straight. Wonder what they would say if they saw that comment of you accusing them of murder with no facts or evidence. You just said we are innocent until proven guilty and then find trainers guilty before they face a court.

        • My reply was a good one, on topic and to the point of the story and your post.

Why do you think that derails?
If someone kills and it's not out of self defense or the defense of others is a pretty good qualifier.
The Neurenberg trials show that 'following orders' is not any excuse.

And a fair trial is to bring out the evidence, not finding them guilty before 'facing court'. That's sharia, and I am opposed to that compared to our justice system.

What these officers do, it's not justice and it's not a system I can advocate for.

You are trolling again Roger. That is why the administrators dismiss all your emails to them, and that is why your lawsuit was dismissed.

          • Why don't you invite him over to your place instead?

          • Alinsky Hero USA

I want to go to his place.

          • you first need to show the trainers are training them to do that and to accuse some one of a crime with proper justification is illegal

          • You go ahead and think that.

            Reality is different.
            My comment was different.

Your assertions without proof are just that, opinions asserted.

          • You said it not me. You just accused the Trainers of being accessories to murder
" Those that kill innocent people need to stand trial for murder, and those that trained them are accessories to that murder".

          • Yes, and standing trial would be the place our justice system uses to bring those facts out, and to give them the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

That's something they didn't do with this woman, is it?

          • It sure would. But you still can't accuse someone of being an accessory to murder with no facts or evidence.

          • It's not accusing someone to say that killing outside of self defense by law enforcement is indefensible, and for saying they need to stand trial, it's using our justice system as intended.

A dead body would be fact and in all likelihood evidence to be used at the trial.
To say the person that trained them to do so should strand trial follows in the steps of war crimes trials.

You just ignore so much of history.

    Great job Al!!!!!

    • Al Gore is criminal and mentally retarded.
If it weren't for his Father and Armand Hammer, Al Gore's world view would have consisted of standing behind a mule, plowing tobacco.

And you should be licking Gore's balls.

        • That isn't a pleasant thought.
Al Gore has never been first in his life. He has always been a Junior. A second fiddle, a second banana. He obviously lost his mind, when he lost the election, and that is understandable. I have always felt sorry for him, because Bush did steal the election, thereby cementing Gores fate in History as a Nobody.

          Al Gore, Gorebasm………….
I am curious, is he wearing a codpiece, or has he been jogging behind Clinton for too long?

Remember when the housing bubble burst, and all of the fall out from it? The next bubble to burst will be the Green Bubble, and it will dwarf the 2008 meltdown. Since I live near Alpine, I wonder if folks there will protest or something…and now that Sul Ross U is on summer vacation, will the folks who did the Occupy Alpine protests of two years ago protest this time? Because right now there are no students to protest this…

  8. It's terrible, it seems that the DEA think they're gods on earth and they can do anything they want to. We need to spread the word, such a behavior can't be tolerated. Btw, not so long ago I ordered an essay on a similar topic from and I was in shock when I read the final draft they provided. Indeed, this question should be appropriately handled.
